Matthew J. Rush
Matt Rush, Ed.D., is the Assistant Head of School and Head of Middle School at Cannon School in Concord, NC. Prior to full-time administration, Matt taught middle school English at Greenhill School in Dallas, TX. Earning a Bachelors degree in English and French at Texas A&M University, Matt earned his Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Teacher’s College at Columbia University in the prestigious Klingenstein program for Private School Leadership. Recently, he also completed his doctoral work at Vanderbilt University. In 2005, Rush co-authored a chapter in a book about homeschooling in the United States. Matt’s professional interests include independent school leadership, curriculum development, and teacher instruction.

Barry Gilmore
Barry Gilmore, Ed.D., is the Middle School Head at Hutchison School in Memphis, TN. Before taking a position in administration, he taught English and social studies for over 15 years. Barry is a National Board Certified teacher, also serves on the summer faculty of the Tennessee Governor’s School for International Studies, and regularly presents his teaching ideas to groups around the country. He is the author of six books for teachers and numerous articles on topics as classroom discussion techniques, plagiarism and writing. Gilmore has received numerous honors for his teaching, including the National Council of Teachers of English Outstanding High School Educator Award, the U.S. Department of Education’s American Star of Teaching Award, and the Tennessee Holocaust Commission’s Educator of the Year. He holds degrees from Middlebury College, University of London and Peabody College at Vanderbilt University.
